By Dr. Buz McNutt, Director
As many of you remember, we had one of our most productive trips to the Bible school and seminary at FATES in N'Djemena last spring. For the first time in the history of the school, students were trained to use computers. We took six laptop computers, equipped with the top of the line Bible software and spent almost two weeks with about thirty students. It was truly a historical event in the lives of the students, the school, and for the church of Chad.
The school has added a special Research Building for computers, in which we hope to install solar internet connection in the near future. This project would connect the school to the world of scholarship and up-to-date training for the church planting movement in Chad.
Dr. Abel, the current President of FATES is most encouraged and asks us to continue to pray, particularly for the recent graduates. He reports, "After your computer classes, students are continuing to learn more and more." Currently the school is on summer break and classes will resume on September 21st. It is impossible to overstate the impact of this technological advancement for the cause of the gospel in a place like Chad. We, who have grown to live by the computer and technology, may find it hard to believe that there are still people just learning, but it is true. It is our hope to return with more computers and begin work on the solar internet project next year. Please continue to pray for the developing work, for Dr. Abel and the faculty, and of course, the students.
