Four More College-Bound Orphans at Village Altonodji

Hello!
We are happy to write to let you know that we have finished with the students of the intermediate classes. The compositions are well spent. We are in the corrections phase. The handing-over of notebooks and newsletters is scheduled for June 30th. For the students of the examination classes, the BEF will start on 4 July and the BAC (College entrance exam) on 10 July. The orphans in examination class are still there in the village. While the others are already on holiday. We are grateful to the Lord and we thank you for your prayers and support. God bless you.

Since 2004 Mission:Chad has been supporting orphans and widows at the Village Altonodji in Moundou and pastoral training at the FATES seminary in N'Djamena. During that time, we have witnessed God's grace in providing for the building of the orphanage/education complex, starting with dormitories and classrooms to provide living quarters and a K-12 education for some of the neediest children in Chad. Through the generous donations of our partners in ministry a church, bakery, sewing center, guest quarters and administration building were all added over the years to complete the infrastructure of the project. In 2007, the generous donations of Mission:Chad enabled the building of a security wall around the 11 acre campus in Moundou. Our ministry partners dug a well, installed solar paneling for nighttime lighting, and the complex continued to prosper by the grace of God. Today, it is providing an education for over 700 students, including the 130+ orphans residing on the campus, and is a testimony to God's provision of excellence and care in a land of difficulty and turmoil. While the largest part of the Village Altonodi project is completed, the children continue to need our ongoing support as they seek to complete their education there.

In 2013, Mission:Chad expanded its ministry to provide college scholarships for graduating orphans desiring to pursue a higher education. Education is highly valued in Chad and it is well known that education is the pathway out of poverty. In Chad, every college student is responsible for paying all costs of the first year of college. Then, if the first year of study is successful, the government pays for the rest. Mission:Chad's scholarship program pays for this first year of college for any graduating orphan who completes and passes the comprehensive BAC (college entrance) exam. Without this help, these orphans would have little prospect of ever attending college. Since we began the program, Mission:Chad has supported eleven graduating orphans, with four more joining their ranks this year upon completing and passing the BAC exam in June. Please pray for these students that they will pass the BAC exam so they can continue their studies in the Fall. We urge you to consider donating to this important program as Mission:Chad continues to look for ways to help these children permanently out of poverty.
